Got a polyscience sous vide machine here, which costs about SGD 2000++ . Yes it is the industrial one, because we are a restaurant. The water circulator broke down after 2 years and Heng from Ruiter charges SGD128 just for "checking" the machine, not inclusive of servicing or spare parts for the machine.
I refused because nobody ever charges "checking" fee. Not in a car shop, handphone shop or any kind of fixing. Technicians usually check and quotes the spare parts and service fee needed to fix the machine. The spare parts required will cost about SGD 800 according to Heng. $128 + $800+ whatever service fee he is going to charge.. And potentially it will cost the same as a new machine ..
